Generous and Warm Hearted Friend To All Who Knew Him
Bill was born on 4/20/1921 in Hibbing, MN to Aina and John Niemi. He married Henrietta Marie Thouin on 11/2/1946. Bill served in the Army Air Force in WWII as a Flight Navigator. He retired from American Linen Supply Co. (Ameripride) after 46 years. Bill started with American Linen as a truck washer and held many positions; ending his career as district manager. He trained and mentored many of the managers across the nation. Bill was active throughout his life in Jaycee’s, the Minneapolis Rotary and he taught Junior Achievement class at St. Jude’s School for many years. He was known as a friend to all who knew him. Bill loved telling jokes and hosting get togethers with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Henrietta; mother and father; sister, Sadie; brothers, Eino and Uno; and grandchildren, Jennifer and Hannah. Survived by sons, Loren (Mary) and John (Ronnie); daughters, Barb (Paul), JoAnn, Judy (Dan) and Bobbi (Scott); grandchildren, Jason, Graham, Dylan, Benjamin, Joseph, Aaron, Anna, Maja, Elliot, Samantha Faye, Dani, Samantha Jo and Jasmine; great-grandchildren, Quentin, Ella, Avery, Wren, Kira, Mekhi, Malik and Montreal; and many other loving nieces, nephews and other family. The first visitation for Bill will be from 4-8PM on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Mueller Lake Mortuary, 4738 Bald Eagle Ave., White Bear Lake. Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at St. Jude of the Lake Catholic Church, 700 Mahtomedi Ave., Mahtomedi. A second visitation will be one hour prior to Mass on Saturday at the church. Private family interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to either the Regions Alzheimer's Research Center or St. Jude of the Lake School.
