Thomas "Tommy" Roen

Thomas D. Roen (68), of Ladysmith, Wisconsin and St. Paul, Minnesota passed away too soon on June 11, 2023.

Thomas, known as Tommy by many, was born to Lyle and Beverly (Cochrane) Roen, on January 1, 1955, in River Falls, Wisconsin. Tommy attended school in River Falls. He joined the Army in January 1973 and served 4 years and 10 months as a PFC E3 and was honorably discharged in November 1977. A portion of his service was in Germany as a truck driver.

Tommy married Tammy (Grosz) in August 1985. They lived a happy life raising their three children in St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1998, they started foster care with Ramsey County. Through the years they have fostered approximately eighty-three children, of which they have adopted five.

Tommy enjoyed being outdoors, camping, fishing, or hunting with family and friends. He was always willing to cook for friends and family and was willing to help anyone.  He also loved watching TV, especially the Green Bay Packers. But most of all he loved spending time with his eight grandchildren.

Tommy is survived by his wife Tammy and eight children; Jamie (John) Joyce, Samantha (Randy) Thomas, Thomas Jr. (Katie) Roen, Jason, Taylor, Soleena, Guadalupe, and Steven. As well as his eight grandchildren; Rodney, Parker, Colton, Hayden, Landon, Morgan, Edith, and Remington. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Dale, Donna, Jenny, Timmy, Kerry, Scott, and Sandy, along with his many nieces and nephews. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Judy Williamson and Kim Elsenpeter.

Visitation will be from 2-4:00pm on Thursday, June 22nd at Mueller Memorial, 835 Johnson Parkway, St. Paul.
