Son of Francis (Weigel) and Raymond Mitchell
Preceded in death by Mae, loving wife of 62 years; siblings, Joe, Ray, Al, Vi and Annie. Survived by daughters, Cam Cardelli, Gloria (Dennis) Sandberg, Lorie (Steve) King; grandchildren, Jeff (fiance Gina) Sandberg, Joelle O’Keefe, Steve (Sarah) Sandberg, Danielle (J.T.) Eberly, Luke Hannahan; great-grandchildren, Bill, Samantha and Ben Mennell; Nico, Jude, Mae and Elsa Sandberg and Ella Eberly; brother, Louis (Snooks) Mitchell; in-laws; and many nieces and nephews. A farm boy from New Richmond, Tom launched his welding career in Seattle, helping to build the USS Frankfurt, a WWII destroyer. He later settled in St. Paul and worked forty years for 3M. Relatives fondly remember “Uncle Tom’s cabin” and the fun times spent fishing and playing horseshoes. Dad liked spending time with family, gardening, cribbage and telling stories. He was a good role model for his children and grandchildren. He will be sorely missed. Special thanks to befrienders Wayne Jurmu and Delores Schreiner who both faithfully visited dad to the end and to long time family friend Helen Peters, for her friendship and support. Mass of Christian Burial 11AM Tuesday, May 27 at Presentation of the B.V.M. Catholic Church, 1725 Kennard St., Maplewood with visitation one hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Mahtomedi.
