Thomas Franklin Hansen

Hansen, Thomas “Tom” Age 73 Passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on December 16, 2012. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Loretta (McKenna) Hansen. Tom is survived by the love of his life, Nancy (St. Martin) to whom he was married for 52 years. Together they raised 5 wonderful children: Tom (Kris), Mary (Steve) Strafelda, Katy (Bill) Steigauf, Andrea (John) Rivers and Nick (Colleen). All told, 13 grandchildren (and counting!). He is also survived by his twin brother Terry (Marcy) and sister Jeanne Weyandt. Tom was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2008, but it could never remove the smile off his face or the twinkle in his eye. To know Tom was to know his sense of humor. Sharing laughter with others was an important part of Tom’s legacy. He was a product of St. Paul Catholic schools. He was a teacher, coach and administrator at St. Columba and St. Bernard’s High School. He also played, coached, and officiated in the Catholic Athletic Association and continued to be active in both the CAA and Minnesota State High School League after retirement. The Hansen family would love to take this opportunity to thank all the medical professionals who lovingly cared for dad at Regions Cancer Center, Regions Hospital, U of M BMT unit, HealthPartners and most recently Our Lady of Peace Home. Your kindness and compassion were truly felt by our whole family and will be passed on. Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 AM Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Saint Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 4741 Bald Eagle Ave, White Bear Lake with visitation 4-8 PM Friday at Mueller Lake Mortuary, 4738 Bald Eagle Ave and 1 hour prior to the time of the Mass at the church on Saturday.
