Sally Jean McNamara (David)

McNamara Sally Jean (nèe David) Age 86, passed peacefully on Saturday, October 8, 2016 with family present after two years of living with cancer. Sally was born on March 16, 1930 in St. Paul, MN. She grew up in St. Paul and at a summer cabin in Mahtomedi, graduated from St. Paul Central HS and attended the University of MN. She met John (Jack) McNamara through family and they married in 1950, initially living on Como Ave in St. Paul before moved to Mahtomedi in 1955. Sally lived the rest of her live in her beloved Mahtomedi. She is preceded is in death by her parents Quentin "QJ" and Elsie (Knocke) David; sister Nancy; her husband Jack and son Robert; grandsons Sean and Charlie; and great friend Robert Hickey. She is survived by her brother Quentin "Buzz" (Evelyn) David of Prescott, AZ; sons William (Stephanie) of White Bear Lake, Thomas (Lynn) of Shoreview, and Patrick (Beth) of Mahtomedi; daughter-in-law Kathy of Hugo; grandchildren, Kate, Dan, Gwen, John, Kelly, Mary, Kevin, Kyle, Tess, and Tom; great-grandchildren Jayce, Geneva, Verona, Ryken, Bailey, Liam, Hailey, Caden, Logan, Oliver, Maci, Quentin, Kate, and a grandson on the way. Sally was very energetic and personable and was blessed with good looks, being the 1947 Central Homecoming Queen and the 1948 College of St. Thomas Homecoming Queen. She made friends and spread happiness where ever she went. She worked for a while with Jack at McNamara Sales and was heavily involved in her children's activities, including; church, scouts, gardening and taking in most every sporting event in the area for her sons and grandchildren. With Jack being a salesman, they entertained extensively and traveled much; hanging out at the Shore Club, Piccadilly Restaurant and at Bourbon Bay (old Wildwood Amusement Park area) making fast friends far and wide. Her passion was in art and painting, especially drawing other peoples' dogs; from the UPS person to friends and relatives, generally giving them as gifts. A special thanks to the Allina Hospice group for their care the last year plus. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am on Friday, October 14, 2016 at St. Jude's Catholic Church at 700 Mahtomedi Ave, Mahtomedi, MN. Visitation is 4 pm to 8 pm at Mueller Mortuary at 4738 Bald Eagle Ave, WBL, MN on Thursday, October 13, 2016, also one hour prior to mass at the church. Private interment at Lakeview Cemetery later. Memorials preferred to the White Bear Center for the Arts or charity of the donor's choice. Sally had such JOY in her heart, she extended a helping hand to all. Her touch will be missed by many, many people.
