LIFE STORY Ruth Helen Azman (nee Hirsch), of Overland Park, KS and Naples, FL, died peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the age of 96. Ruth was born in Cleveland, OH, on October 4, 1921 a daughter of the late Rudolph and Angela Hirsch. On September 12, 1942, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert A. Azman, who preceded her in death on August 14, 2006. Over their 63 years of marriage, she created a warm, welcoming home for family and friends and devoted her love, time and attention to raising their 5 children. For many years, she taught religion classes for the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine at St. Teresa’s Parish in Pittsburgh, PA. In her younger years, she worked as a bookkeeper and maintained those financial skills throughout her life. She enjoyed a fine glass of wine and loved discovering new and interesting restaurants. Ruth is survived by four children: Linda (William) Joyce of Maryland, Judith (Bruce) Robbins of Kansas, Robert (Kathleen) Azman, Jr., of Minnesota and Texas, Mark (Patricia) Azman of Minnesota; seven grandchildren: Jeffrey Joyce, Hallie Yuhasz, Timothy Robbins, Andrea (Michael) Boyd, John Azman, Claire (Andy) Groh, Andrew Azman; and four great grandchildren: Abigail and Christian Joyce and Caleb and Nolan Boyd; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruthann Yuhasz, on June 1, 2006, her sister Angela Phillips and her brother Ralph Hirsch. Mass of the Resurrection, Saturday, March 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the Catholic Community of St. Odilia in Shoreview, MN. Visitation one hour prior to the Mass. Interment Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred in Ruth’s name to Kansas City Hospice or donor’s choice. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Atriums, ComForCare Home Care and Kansas City Hospice for their gentle and respectful care for Ruth.
