Roxanne Marie "Roxy" Horrisberger

Roxanne Horrisberger Age 62 Roxanne Marie Horrisberger of St. Paul, MN, passed away of esophageal cancer at home surrounded by her loving family on August 29, 2016. She was born January 10, 1954 in St. Paul to Ruby and the late Delmore Horrisberger. Roxy is survived by her mother, Ruby; two sisters, Linda Horrisberger of Woodbury, MN; and Lori (Dave) Conley of Hudson, WI. She is also survived by cherished nieces, Abigail Wise of Boulder, Colorado; Rachel Conley (Clark Rinker) of Bellingham, WA; and Jessica Conley of St. Paul, MN, all of whom considered their Aunt Roxy a second mother. She will also be missed by her many friends, cousins, aunts, uncles and church family. Roxy was a graduate of North St. Paul High School and the University of Minnesota, where she earned a B.A. degree in Journalism. Upon graduation, she was employed by the U.S. Navy in Minneapolis. She eventually was hired by the IRS from which she retired as a Taxpayer Advocate in 2009. She was an avid sports fan, an enthusiastic Bob Dylan fan (whom she saw in concert more than a dozen times), loved crossword puzzles, politics, watching old movies and playing volleyball with friends. Someone who always put others first, Roxy devoted her life to her family and Cross Lutheran Church, where she served on the Boards of Evangelism and Education, taught Sunday School, directed the annual Christmas program, headed the yearly craft sale and the monthly Food for Friends, and participated in many Bible studies and Lenten dramas. Although she never had children of her own, Roxy touched the lives of many children through her work at Cross, including, of course, her three nieces. Roxy’s mother, Ruby, had colon cancer surgery in 2012 and Roxy spent much time with Ruby until Fall 2014, when she moved in permanently with her mom as companion and caregiver, forging a special bond between them. Roxy had a strong faith, a great sense of humor, a beaming smile and a loving, generous heart. She will be deeply missed. A visitation for Roxy will be held Tuesday, Sept. 6 from 6-8 pm at Mueller Memorial, 835 Johnson Parkway, St. Paul. Funeral service Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 11:00 am at Cross Lutheran Church, 1945 Prosperity Road, Maplewood, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery immediately following the service. Cross Lutheran will serve lunch following the burial.
