On September 21, 2023, after a long illness, Rosemary T. Casello of St. Paul died peacefully in the early morning at her home. She was 93 - blessed with longevity, a large and loving family, and a strong, resilient response to life's challenges and rewards.
Rosemary grew up and lived in St. Paul her whole life, spending 67 years in her home on the East Side (Phalen Lake.) She was a long-time member of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in St. Paul and of the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 1189. She worked for Peters Meat, Pioneer Sausage, and Cosetta's Italian Market and Pizzeria through the years until her retirement.
Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Eleanor Polzer, husband, Michael P. Casello, brothers, Jospeh Polzer and James Polzer, grandson, Kinan Atassi, and granddaughter, Rhae Ann Knebel.
She is survived by her 6 children, Rose Marie Atassi, Beverly Casello, Marilyn Knebel, Patricia Casello-Maddox (Glenn), Nanette LaFavor (Mike), and Michael Casello (Jody), as well as her brother, Robert Polzer (Pat), sister, Kathleen Polzer, many nieces and nephews, and feline friend, Dante.
She has been blessed with 11 grandchildren (survived by 9), Kindah Martin (Bruce), William Knebel, Josef Knebel, Candace Kramer, George LaFavor, Hannah LaFavor, Anthony Casello, Elaina Froberg (Todd), and Michael Casello (Carrie).
12 great grandchildren: Bryce Magruder, Brynna Magruder, Anthony Knebel, Trista Knebel, Alecxander Kramer, Hamish Kramer, Blake Hanson, Richard Keeney, Cooper Froberg, Olivia Froberg, Madeline Casello, and Michael Casello.
2 great great grandchildren: Aaron Mitchell McQuen and Kaia Rose Smith.
Visitation is on Wednesday, September 27, at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Agnes, 535 Thomas Avenue W, St. Paul 55103. Visitation is followed by High Mass at 11:00 a.m. A reception is being held at 12:30 p.m. at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament at 2119 Stillwater Avenue E, St. Paul 55119. There will be a separate, private interment later.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be made to Legacy Home Care as thanks for their compassionate care or the Church of the Blessed Sacrament for future parish prayers for Rosemary.
