Ronald Lahr

Passed away July 7th at the age of 88. Ron was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota on February 20, 1935. He was one of four boys to Marcia and Leo Lahr. He graduated from St. Cloud and was introduced to Carol Peterson. The two were married in 1959 after Ron was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He was a weapons tester and although he served diligently, he was fortunate to not have to be in combat. He and Carol moved to the Twin Cities shortly after their daughter, Cheryl, was born. They raised their four children on St. Paul's East Side. After the military, Ron proudly worked on the railroad. He eventually switched to become a steel worker at Olympic Steel. He was a strong, hardworking, and ethical man who was dedicated to his jobs. At home, his yard was his pride and joy. It was an immaculate yard and he would spend hours watering it. Ron made sure to set aside Sunday afternoons for him and Carol to take their long drives. He had an allowance that he would give his grandkids and he always seemed to have suckers close by for them. Ron is preceded in death by his wife, Carol; son-in-law, Tim Orsello; and his three brothers. He will be dearly missed by his children, Cheryl (Michael Dreyer), Steven Lahr, Kimberly Orsello, and James (Susan) Lahr; his grandchildren, Amy (Tom) Forchas, Kristina Orsello, Brenda (Bill) Bouthilet, and Stephanie (Alexander) Fischer; his great-grandchildren, Sophia Forchas, Anthony Forchas, Brenden Soltau, Elias Soltau, Kylee Soltau, Clara Wilson, Adalyn Wilson, Brian Bouthilet, Brooklyn Bouthilet, Timothy Fischer, Benjamin Fischer and Carol Fischer and other family and friends. 
A Memorial Service will take place at 4:30pm on Wednesday, July 12th at Mueller Memorial, 835 Johnson Pkwy., St. Paul. Visitation begins at 3pm and goes until the time of the service. A Private burial, with full military honors, will take place on a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
