Ronald was born in Troy, Ohio on September 5, 1943 to Lois (nee Swan) and Edwin Hansen. His family moved around because his father was in the military. After Ohio, they moved to Omaha, Nebraska. Eventually, they ended up in St. Paul, Minnesota because they had more family there. Ron graduated in the class of 1961 at Johnson High School. He worked for a few years following his high school graduation, and then he decided to enlist in the United States Army. He had complications with his feet and thought for sure they would deny his application to join. After three years of serving and being deployed to Korea, they discovered how bad his feet actually were. At his time of discharge, he was ranked as a Specialist 4th Class (E4). Once back in the United states, Ron worked for over 9 years at Honeywell. He went on to continue his career for over 20 years at Whirlpool in St. Paul and in Cottage Grove. He retired from the Minnesota Lottery after being with them for over 20 years. Ron was a very funny, outgoing, and social guy. He was an avid sports fan and could be found watching hockey games (the Minnesota Wild were his favorite, of course). He also watched football and baseball. He was an outdoorsman and loved fishing or taking long walks around town. In May of 2015, he moved to White Bear Lake to be closer to his nephew, Jeff Hansen. In 2016, he moved to New Perspective in Mahtomedi and was adored by all the caretakers there.
Ron is preceded in death by his siblings, Roger Hansen, Tom Hansen, Lauren Hansen, and Jim Hansen. He will be dearly missed by his sister, Mary Kueffner; and his nieces and nephews, Jeff Hansen, Scott Hansen, Patrick Hansen, Eric Hansen, Mark Hansen, Catherine Hansen, and Andy Kueffner.
There will be military honors for Ron at Fort Snelling National Cemetery to honor his service to his country. Following the cemetery, there will be a small reception for family and friends.
