A lifelong resident of East St. Paul, he died unexpectedly on Jan. 23 at age 60. Roger was born on October 28, 1952. He attended Sacred Heart and graduated in 1971 from Harding High School. He attended St. Paul VoTech for Carpentry, beginning a lifelong career and retiring in 2008. He was a master craftsman and helped family and friends with many projects. His greatest joys came when he was at his cabin fishing, solving world problems around the campfire with family and friends. He loved watching and caring for the birds, especially the eagles. He was well-known for spoiling his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Bill Malmgren. Seven siblings survived him: Karen Louis of Oakdale, James (Rose) of Holton, WI, Thomas (Judith), Onamia, Joyce of Fort Worth, TX, John of Shoreview, Sheryl (John) Homan of Cloquet and Larry of St. Mary’s Point as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation 4-8 PM Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Mueller Parkway Chapel, 835 Johnson Parkway, St. Paul. Memorial Service 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Guardian Angels Church, 8260 4th St. N., Oakdale, with visitation one hour prior at the church. Memorials preferred to donor’s choice.
