Roger Hunter

Roger B Hunter Roger was born in Racine Wisconsin on September 22, 1932, the son of Esther (nee Anderson) and Boyd Hunter. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force (state side Korean War Vet). While stationed at the Air Force Base in the Twin Cities near the St. Paul airport, he met Kathryn Lucas. Kathy was a nursing student at Hamline University. After dating for a year, they were married on December 28, 1956. When Kathy graduated from Hamline, they moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where Roger graduated from Marquette University with a degree in electrical engineering. Upon graduation he was recruited by the United States Naval Reserves. He eventually retired from the Navy at the rank of Lieutenant Commander. While in Wisconsin, their son Bruce was born. The family moved to White Bear Lake when Bruce was 4 years old, as Roger began to work at Honeywell. Roger and Bruce rebuilt car engines in their garage and also enjoyed photography. Roger liked watching football games of the Vikings and Packers and also followed the Badgers and Gopher games. His grandchildren loved to go boating and fishing on White Bear Lake with him. Roger passed away on the morning of November 28, 2016. He is preceded in death by his sister, Renee Dye, his parents, Boyd and Esther Hunter, and his brother-in-law and best friend, Donald Paiga. Roger will be dearly missed by his wife of 59 years, Kathy Hunter of White Bear Lake; his son, Bruce (Carol) Hunter of White Bear Lake; his three grandchildren, Cara, Stephanie and Matthew Hunter; his sister, Marlene Paiga of Racine, WI; and his brother-in-law, John Dye; and many other family and friends.
