On Saturday, March 21st, 2020 Rodney (Rod) James Raschke passed away at age 79.
Rod was born on December 20, 1940 in Saint Paul, MN to Lorraine and Walter Raschke. He graduated from White Bear High School in 1959. Rod spent his career as a Lithographer with McGill Lithography and Printing Company and retired at the age of 63.
Rod had many passions throughout his life, including but not limited to fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, drag racing, traveling, going to casinos, and spending time with friends and family. Rod has traveled to Japan, China, Canada, the Bahamas, Hawaii and other places throughout the United States.
He was known for his height (The Mount Raschke), straight forwardness, deeply rooted in family, sarcasm, and tendency to call things as they were. He was an active member with his high school Reunion Committee and spent much time going to reunions and staying in contact with those with whom he graduated with, as well as those from other classes. He enjoyed time well spent with others so that he may âeducateâ them on the knowledge of âRod Raschkeâ, time to discuss the past, to discuss what one had been up to. He was very social by nature and truly did enjoy being around as many people as he could. Much of his life was spent with cars and he had many of them over the course of the years with one of the last ones purchased and used with his son Nick to spend time at the drag strip competing in many races.
Rod was preceded in his death by both of his parents, Walter and Lorraine, and his sister Dorothy. He is survived by his sister Joyce Raschke, three sons, Jim (Malisa) Raschke, Tim (Darcy) Raschke, Nick (Lindsay) Raschke, two step-children Chris Hopland and Kelly Bergsrud, twelve grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
A private funeral service will be held on Monday March 30, 2020 for immediate family with a Celebration of Life to be planned at a later date.
