Robert Louis Mayotte, age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 27. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, a loving and humorous man and a great storyteller. Bob was born in Jackson, Michigan on March 12, 1920 to Archie and Anna Mayotte. He was the middle son of seven brothers, five of whom served their country during WWII. He was very proud of his service and was a lifetime historian of WWII as well as the Civil War. He was an avid reader, a lover of music, especially opera, and a passionate golfer in his day but most of all, he loved his family. Bob was a graduate of Notre Dame and enjoyed his career in advertising with Kimberly Clark, work that drew on his creativity and humor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Archie; six brothers, Phil, Jim, Frank, Bernie, Norm and Dave. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughters, Denise (Warren Hanson), Lisa (John Kulstad) and Janice (Greg Dames); and grandchildren, Philip, Robert, Andrew, Colin, Martin, Stuart, Anna, Matthew and Robert. Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 4:00 at Messiah Episcopal Church, 1631 Ford Parkway, St. Paul, MN. Memorials preferred to Messiah Episcopal Church, The Sheltering Arms Foundation or the National World War II Museum.
