Bob combatted leukemia for 7-months, like one tough mfer. He laid his weary head down to rest at home, EXACTLY where he wanted to be on Mon. Nov. 6th. The heavens made a mistake. The ether took the wrong guy. Bob was a nice guy and did everything right. Cancer should be reserved for convicted criminals and death row inmates, not nice guys. Is there an unjust death hotline to call? Is there a god on speed dial to complain to? Bob deserved better and we deserve our Bob back.
Born and raised in Rochester, MN by Steve and Nancy (née Hagerty) Fredrickson, along with older sister, Anne. He was the favorite child. Attended Lourdes High School. Graduated college from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis. A long time resident of St. Paul, Minnesota. Bob was a Library Assistant at Minitex, a state library organization at the University of Minnesota, where he worked and supervised students for +30 years. Bob was a patient and gifted trainer to countless students and full timers.
Universal truths about Bob: Enviable head of thick, wavy, hair. Dry wit. Zingers on tap. Fiercely independent. Unapologetically himself. Stubborn. Private. Practical. Homebody. An introvert who wouldn’t miss a party. Doglike loyalty. Good listener and gave solid advice. Always willing to lend a helping hand, but don’t ask him to help you move (traumatized from having worked at a moving company. Nuff’ said). Consummate gentleman. Honorary family member of the McKinnon clan. Thoughtful, great gift giver. Master baker of chocolate chip cookies. Well read. History buff. Steel trap mind. Could have been a game show contestant champion. Move over Ken Jennings. Loved pretty ladies and appreciated a bountiful rack. Outdoor diehard and avid sportsman. Wild gobbler getter. BBQ enthusiast. Daily crossword puzzler. A graceful guru at disc golf (leftie), bowling, scrabble and cornhole. Devoted FIFA soccer fan. Sasquatch enthusiast. Dog whisperer.
Preceded him in death: His parents finally reunited with their favorite child.
Survivors: Everyone still here who will love and miss Bob. You know who you are. No need to list them.
