Richard "Dick" Murnane, 84, of Oakdale, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 3, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; great grandchild; AJ Mahowald; and sister, Pat Richardson. He is survived by his children, MaryPat Mahowald (Brad Heil), Rick (Cheryl), Rob (Julie), Peggy (Steve) Drobinski, and Mike (Marnie); grandchildren, Andy (Suzanne) Mahowald, Jack (Erin), Michael, Sean (Katie Logendyke), Meghan (Alex) Carlberg, and Ryan (Kim Moua) Murnane, Kelsey (Joe) Robinson, Jack (Morgan Newpower) Rogowski, Annie and Maggie Murnane; great grandchild, John Mahowald; sister, Mary (Hank) Mauer; brother-in-law, Tom Richardson; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
For 45 years, Dick worked for H. B. Fuller before he retired. He was known for being an avid sports fan and lover of MN sports and bowling. He spent many years as a well-beloved coach and coached all 5 of his children in softball, baseball and hockey. When his wife passed in 2013, he took over the role of "texting" grandpa and always made sure to send out to his crew a "Morning" text every day at 6 AM. His smile and love will be deeply missed.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 6133 15th Street North, Oakdale, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery. Luncheon to follow at Sgt. Peppers at 1:00 PM. A special thank you to the staff at the Pillars Hospice Home in Oakdale for their care. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
