PHILIP JAMES MEYER Age 68 of Hugo – Passed Away Due to Complications from Cancer Treatment Phil was born in Minneapolis to James and Barbara Meyer. He was raised in Richfield with his four siblings, Lucy, Linda, Laurie and Greg. He attended St. Peters Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Richfield High School. He attended St. Thomas College and graduated with a degree in Political Science. Following college, he married his first wife, Karen Meyer. Shortly after, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served his time based in California as a supply sergeant. He and Karen moved back to Minnesota to start their family and Jennifer was born. While working full time and raising a small child, he decided to further his education and received his MBA from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. He had a successful career with International Multifoods and Peavey Company where he met his current wife, Gwen. Phil retired from the State of Minnesota where he worked for the Department of Finance as a Budget Analyst. Preceded in death by parents and infant son. Survived by wife of 30 years, Gwen; children, Jennifer Slick of Farmington, Jeffrey (Christy) Wells of Sauk Rapids, and Amy (Ryan) Henry of East Bethel; grandchildren, Joshua and Brooklyn Slick, Tyler and Katerina Wells, and Jake and Tanner Henry; and many siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews. There will be a gathering of friends and family from 9-11AM on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Mueller Memorial, 4738 Bald Eagle Ave., White Bear Lake with a Memorial Service at 11AM. Private interment at a later date at Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis. A special thank you to Regions Hospital and HealthPartners Hospice. Memorials are appreciated to the U of M Masonic Cancer Center.
