Born September 24, 1928 to Alfred & Edna Anderson in New York Mills, Minnesota. Ollie worked as a brakeman on the Duluth, Missabe, & Iron Range Railway. He served in the Army 7th Infantry in the Korean War and earned the rank of SFC. After the war, he returned to Duluth and married Violet Fossum, the love of his life. He went to trade school to learn tool & die making, in which he excelled. He partnered with 4 others to form Twin Tool, then bought Star Mold, later merging with Plastech, earning the âoutstanding salesmanâ award. He retired from the business in 1987. He and Vi loved to fish together, travelling around the US and throughout Europe. One of his favorite places was the âshack,â â a very rustic hunting & fishing retreat, where he and his nephew Kevin, friends Tom and Kevin, and brother-in-law Duane spent many happy hours. Ollie is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Joyce Anderson, Ruby Roland, and Vina Roland; and brother, Doug. He is survived by his wife, Vi; daughter, Linda (Larry) Kiggans of Damascus, OR; brother, Darrell (Marlene) Anderson of Saginaw, MN; sister, RoMayne Bjonskaas of Oregon City, OR; brothers and sisters in-law, Russ & Jeanne Oettel of Red Wing, MN, Duane & Pat Fossum of Lakeville, MN; Bud Roland, Mel Roland, Bea Fossum of Duluth, Joyce Anderson of Bellingham, WA, & Shawnee Gayhart of Oshkosh , WI; numerous loving nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends. Memorial Service 12 PM with visitation one hour prior to the service on Monday, February 29, 2016 at St. Andrewâs Lutheran Church, 900 Stillwater Rd., Mahtomedi. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to a charity of the donorâs choice.
