Norbert P. Arnold, Jr. Former State Senator from Pengilly, MN Passed away on Dec. 13, 2014 at age 94 Preceded in death by parents, Norbert P. Arnold Sr. and Alys Cummings; first wife, Wilma Kienlen; and sister, Ruth (Les) Johnson. Survived by loving wife, Agnes Arnold; daughters, Barbara M.D. (Stephen M.D.) Guthrie of Livonia, MI; Rebecca (John Grant M.D.) of San Diego, CA; Kathleen (Michael Skow) of Minneapolis, MN; Teresa Burnham of Plymouth, MN; sons, Robert (Alice) of St. Cloud, MN; Patrick M.D. (Jacalyn Dicello M.D.) of West St. Paul and John M.D. (Anne Roberts M.D.) of Del Mar, CA; step-sons, Robert (Kathy), Lawrence (Jean) and James (Margaret) Haider; grandchildren, Roberta Arnold, Stefan Hyduke, Michael Grant M.D., Andrea Grant, Christopher Arnold, Brian Arnold, Mark Arnold and Kristin (Ede) Vasseur; great-grandchilren, Trevor, Nicholas, Kali, Corbin, Shea and Declan; and many other relatives and friends. Graduated with distinction from University of MN Mechanical Engineering. Superintendent of maintenance at W.S. Moore Mining Co.; small business Manufacturing Company owner 1962-83 in Pengilly, MN; MN State Senator from Pengilly from 1967-76, Chairman of the Finance Committee. Norbert retired and moved to Inver Grove Heights in 1983. He loved to build small gasoline and steam engines as well as saw mills. Norbert enjoyed many years of travel out West to visit saw mills. His love for music was expressed by playing string bass in a 3 piece band and he was a self taught piano player. He was a devoted family man, politician, and musician. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM with visitation one hour prior to Mass on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the Church of St. Patrick, 3535 72nd Street East, Inver Grove Heights. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
