Negussie Berihun Teku, 69, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018, in his residential home in Cottage Grove, MN.
Negussie was born in Asmara, Eritrea on December 25, 1948. Born to mother Abeba Cahsai and father Berihun Teku from Keren, Eritrea, Negussie grew up in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and went to boarding school established by Emperor Haile Selassie. In September of 1974, Negussie attended Lomonosov Moscow State University in Russia, formerly known as the Soviet Union, to study agriculture science and irrigation on scholarship. In 1978, Negussie left the Soviet Union for the United States to pursue graduate studies at the University of Minnesota. Negussie achieved a Masters in Agronomy and Irrigation and taught at the University of Minnesota for over a decade.
A tender, compassionate, patient and humble man, Negussie left a significant impact on his family and community. He strongly believed that education is the key to unlock two kinds of successes: individual growth and community prosperity.
Negussie Berihun is preceded in death by his sister Alganesh Berihun.
Negussie is survived by wife Terhas Tewelde, daughter Netsanet Negussie, and son Victor Negussie.
