Neal Francis Gallagher

Gallagher, Neal Francis Fortified by the sacraments of his faith, Neal F. Gallagher, age 90, passed away April 11, 2014 surrounded by family. Neal was born in Saint Paul in 1923, a graduate of St. Thomas Academy, class of 1941. A decorated veteran (Purple Heart), he served in WWII (D-Day +1) and the Korean War. Neal worked at 3M for 30 years as a chemist. Neal was a loving husband, devoted father, an avid hunter, fisherman, craftsman and raconteur. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (nee Riehle) Gallagher; 11 children: Christine (Tim) McGinty, Tim (Kathy), Tom (Peggy), Peggy, Annie (Lee) Walker, John (Susan), Joe, Jim (Sandy), Mark (Nancy), Fr. Gregory, and Katie (Robert) Moore; 17 grandchildren; and by six great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Church of Saint Casimir, 934 Geranium Avenue East, St. Paul. Visitation 4-8 PM Monday at Mueller Parkway Chapel, 835 Johnson Pkwy, and also one hour prior to the time of the Mass on Tuesday at the church. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. A gathering will be held following the interment at the American Legion, 1129 Arcade Street, St. Paul.
