Gallagher, Neal Francis
Fortified by the sacraments of his faith,
Neal F. Gallagher, age 90, passed away April 11, 2014 surrounded by family. Neal was born in Saint Paul in 1923, a graduate of St. Thomas Academy, class of 1941. A decorated veteran (Purple Heart), he served in WWII (D-Day +1) and the Korean War. Neal worked at 3M for 30 years as a chemist. Neal was a loving husband, devoted father, an avid hunter, fisherman, craftsman and raconteur. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (nee Riehle) Gallagher; 11 children: Christine (Tim) McGinty, Tim (Kathy), Tom (Peggy), Peggy, Annie (Lee) Walker, John (Susan), Joe, Jim (Sandy), Mark (Nancy), Fr. Gregory, and Katie (Robert) Moore; 17 grandchildren; and by six great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Church of Saint Casimir, 934 Geranium Avenue East, St. Paul. Visitation 4-8 PM Monday at Mueller Parkway Chapel, 835 Johnson Pkwy, and also one hour prior to the time of the Mass on Tuesday at the church. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. A gathering will be held following the interment at the American Legion, 1129 Arcade Street, St. Paul.
