Michael Carmine Giampaolo
Age 94 - Beloved Uncle
Passed away peacefully on October 31st
Preceded in death by his loving wife, Viola; parents, Louis and Anne Giampaolo; sister, Shirley Costa and brother, Leonard Giampaolo. Survived by nieces, Deborah Masanz and Suzanne Greenwalt (Robert Thomas); nephews, Steve Costa (Merilyn), Kenneth Costa (Linda), Gregory Costa (Judy); and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Mike was born in Cumberland WI but raised on the Eastside of St Paul. Attended Lincoln Grade School and Johnson High School. Member of St Ambrose Church for decades. Served in the US Air Force on the Island of Okinawa as an MP, member of VFW Post 1171. In the early 50's he met his bride to be, Viola, at the White Castle on Payne Ave, they were wed in 1954. An avid sportsman Mike loved to bowl, fish, hunt and camp and always had an entertaining story to share about his adventures! Mike retired from NSP (Xcel) in the 1984 and enjoyed many years of happy retirement. Mike was a true gentleman, a member of the Greatest Generation, ready with a helping hand, an encouraging word or a kind smile. He will be missed by those whose lives he touched.
Memorial prayer service 7pm on Monday, November 7th at Mueller Memorial, 835 Johnson Pkwy., St. Paul. Visitation from 4-7pm. Burial with full military honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
