Merrill Stenzel

Stenzel, Merrill J. Beloved Brother and Uncle Age 83 of St. Paul Passed away on April 22, 2013. Preceded in death by parents, Jerry J. and Johanna Stenzel; sister, Joan; and brother, Harold. Survived by sisters, Shirley (John) Hanson and Betty (Raymond) Wagner; nephews, Gregory (Kristine) Hanson, Kenneth (Maria) Wagner, Michael Wagner, Scott (Kim) Wagner and Chris Wagner; nieces, Jeanne (Donald) Carlson and Anne Wagner; many great-nephews; great-nieces; and loving friend, Alice Bukvich and her family. Merrill was active in many service and fraternal organizations, serving as a past Department of Minnesota Vice-Commander, 4th District Commander and Vice Commander, Arcade-Phalen Post 577 Commander and Chaplain, Joyce Kilmer Post 107 Commander; Chef de Gare, Aumonier, and Directeur Nurses Training for Voiture 39 of the 40&8; and member of VFW Post 1350 of North St. Paul. He was a long serving volunteer of the VAVS at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a long serving officer and member of the Catholic Order of Foresters Court 821. Merrill was highly respected and repeatedly honored for his commitment to serve to Veterans and the local community. Merrill, a carpenter by trade, loved hunting and fishing and was a lifetime member of the NRA and the North American Fishing Club. He was an accredited Youth Firearms Instructor. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Church of St. Pascal Baylon, 1757 Conway Street, St. Paul. Visitation 4:00-8:00 PM Friday, April 26, 2013 at Mueller Memorial Parkway Chapel, 835 Johnson Parkway, St. Paul at E. 7th Street and one hour prior to the time of the Mass at the church on Saturday. Private burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the St. Pascal Baylon Mortgage Reduction Program.
