Melonie Su Fischer, age 52, of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, peacefully passed away on August 2, 2023 after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was a 31-year survivor of Hodgkin's Lymphoma cancer. Melonie was born at Midway Hospital in St. Paul, MN to Russell and Jerrie Daly. Growing up in Oakdale, MN, she developed a love of softball, figure skating and music becoming an accomplished musician, playing both the violin and alto saxophone. She graduated from Tartan High School in 1989 and attended college at the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities, graduating in 1995. In her elementary and high school years, she actively participated in the Greater Twin Cities Youth Orchestra and her high school band including both jazz band and marching band. She was also active with the Woodbury Baptist Youth Group and loved to recall the stories of canoe trips to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. She continued with marching band in college where she was an active member of the Pride of Minnesota - the University of Minnesota Marching Band. After gaining a degree in computer science she was gainfully employed in the industry for 28 years beginning at Siemens, US West, Lockheed Martin, and United Health Group and its various subsidiaries. She was passionate about her work and was a student of each role she held from working the drive-up window at Burger King, to managing databases, to running engineering leadership development programs, to evangelizing the Agile mindset of software and product development. She married her husband Bill Fischer in 1997, and together they have two children, Sam and Matt Fischer. As a family, they enjoyed traveling - especially all things Disney - also camping, and attending activities for band, scouts and lacrosse to support and cheer on Sam and Matt. She was extremely proud of them. She was an avid University of Minnesota Gopher fan and enjoyed many craft hobbies including sewing, embroidery, and scrapbooking. Melonie was infectious with her smile, had an incredible ability to see the good in all people, and strived to help others where they desired. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Melonie is preceded in death by grandma Opal Ponder, grandpa Francis Ponder, grandpa Robert Daly, and mother-in-law Judith Fischer. In addition to her husband Bill and sons Sam and Matt, she is survived by her grandma Nina Daly, parents Russell and Jerrie Daly, father-in-law Gene Fischer (Rita Revermann), sister Jennifer Daly (Allan Evans), sister-in-law Adelheid (John) Koski, sister-in-law Shelly (Jody) Nelson, brother-in-law Thomas (Jayne) Fischer, nieces and nephews Benjamin (Julia) Neri, Cole Nelson, Greta Fischer, Daniel Neri, Brady Fischer, Henry Koski, Suzanna Neri, Jody Nelson Jr, and Elizabeth Koski and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends. A private memorial service will be held on August 19th, 2023 for immediate family at Mueller Memorial, 4738 Bald Eagle Ave., White Bear Lake MN, 55110. All are welcome to a Celebration of Life on September 16th, 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Club Cambria room at the U of MN Huntington Bank Stadium followed by a Gopher football watch party (enter the stadium through the Benton County entrance near Goldy's Locker Room & the ticket office). In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to the University of Minnesota Marching Band Pride of Minnesota Leadership Fund (please indicate in honor of Melonie Fischer).
