Matthew "Matt" Carl DeMike
Matt was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on April 20, 1989. He was the son of Patti Jo and Roger Amundson and Nicholas Carl DeMike. He graduated from Tartan High School and went on to serve two years in the United States Army as a member of the Old Guard Unit at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. After being discharged from the military, Matt took a few years of trade school and became a CNC Operator and Machinist at Tennent Company. He was a very hard worker and his coworkers enjoyed working with him. When he was not working, he could be found outdoors. He loved to go up to the cabin in Siren, Wisconsin and fish. He was also an avid hunter and enjoyed both rifle and bow hunting. His family meant the world to him and he loved his little brother, Alex and the family dog, Rosco. Matt was a social butterfly and could be extremely witty. He was up for anything when friends would call and was truly a âfly by the seat of his pantsâ kind of guy. He had a calm and relaxed air about him and lived by the spur of the moment. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Matt is preceded in death by his baby son, Jackson Patrick DeMike; his maternal grandma, Marion Stinson; his paternal grandparents, Rose and Carl DeMike; and his uncle, John Stinson. He will be dearly missed by his mother, Patti (Roger) Amundson of Oakdale; his father, Nicholas DeMike of Oakdale; his brother, Alex Amundson of Oakdale; his grandpa, John Stinson of Cottage Grove; his close friend and mother of Jackson, Jennifer Madigan of St. Paul; his maternal aunts and uncles, Pam (Gary) Erickson of Nashville, Tennesee, Lynn (Jim) Dorner of Lino Lakes, Jacqueline Stinson of Bloomington; and Thomas Stinson of Cottage Grove; his paternal aunts and uncles, Gloria (Rick) Plaisted of Two Harbors, Jim Spawn of Kansas City, and William DeMike of Pine City; and many cousins, family, and friends.
There will be a gathering on Monday, June 4, 2018 for Matt's family and friends from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 6133 15th Street N., Oakdale. A catered luncheon by K&J will follow in the church hall and the interment for Matt will be after lunch at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights.
