MaryAnn âMishaâ DeRosa, 75, of St. Paul, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, July 10, 2020. She was preceded in death by her son, Frank Joseph DeRosa; parents, Loretta and Joseph Kost; and many brothers. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard; son, John (Jillian); grandchildren, Ashleigh, Vincenzo, Annmarie, Dominick, Lillia, and Frank; great grandson, Jay; daughter-in-law, Dawn Borgwardt; siblings, Julia, Eddie, Ted, and Arthur; nieces, Sherrilyn (her daughter, Heather), Candice, Erica, and Heather; nephews, Erick and Michael; and many other extended family members.
When baby Frankie was told that Grandma Misha was living with Jesus now, the first thing he
said was that Heaven has a new angel, and he was right in every sense of the word. She was
the type of woman that always put others in front of herself, not just family and friends, but also
strangers. She would literally stop strangers in their tracks just to tell them how beautiful their
children were. Her love was overwhelming from family and friends to strangers and animals.
She loved all animals, it took her almost a year to get over the death of Vinny and Dominickâs
hamster. But children always had a special place in her heart, all the kids loved Grandma
Misha, whether they had known her for years or just a few hours. The best word to describe her
is selfless, you would never hear her complain about anything, if you were good then she was
good if there was something wrong she would figure out a way to make it better. She had a
smile and sense of humor that lit up every room she stepped into. It didnât matter if she was
having a good day or a bad day, that great big smile and personality would always be there to
make you feel special. If she could, she would feed the world, if you knew Misha, you knew that
food was never far away. She would slave over the stove making Sunday gravy for 6-7 hours,
not to eat herself, but to watch everybody else enjoy. She would yell at Frank and John for
eating the meatballs before they were fully cooked, telling them âyouâre going to get worms if
you eat those meatballs, theyâre still raw in the middle.â But that did not stop Frank or John
because no one made meatballs like her. Then once everyone was done with dinner, Misha
would sit down to eat, thatâs just the way she was.
We could not have been blessed with a better wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt
or friend. We all know you are watching over us as if you never left because you didnât, you are
with us all, forever. What do you give the biggest heart in the world? Thatâs easy, you give her
your heart.
Until we meet again
