MARY L. VETTER (nee Herriges)
Beloved Mother and Matriarch – Age 87
Went Home to her Savior on Aug. 16, 2014
She is again dancing with her beloved husband, Armin, and enjoying her reunion with precious children, Therese and Charles; her parents, Al, Therese and Ethel; and her sisters, Sylvia and Ann. Mary Lou will be greatly missed by her brother, Joseph (Vilma); and her children, David (Mary), Daniel, Kathryn (Leon) Pleau, Steven (Mary Lee), Gregory (Marilyn), Cheryl (Jon) Ustipak and Nick (Caroline Toll); 23 grandchildren; Yon (Lisa), Adam (Ellie), Jay (Beth), Rose, Chris (Alayne), Shane (Jodi), Jessica (Drew), Dana (Drake), Kristin, Daniel, Michel, Pierre, Karlynna, Archimedes, Elysia, Franz (Laura), Robert (Jennifer), James (Katie), Jonathan, Eva (Kevin), Annette, Anthony, and David Jr.; 25 great-grandchildren; Cadence, Melody, Brady, Ben, Jennifer, Ashton, Elizabeth, Nolan, Ryan, Sophie, Edward, Davina, Casandra, Merlin, Dominique, Lance, Alexandria, Joseph, Wyatt, Kaylee, Alec, Britta, Audrey, Grant, and Mallory; 2 great-great-grandchildren; Sibylla and Mary Jane; and many dear relatives and friends. No one was a stranger to Mary Lou, only friends she had not yet met. After earning her Cadet Corps. Nursing Degree at St. Catherine's College, she raised her family of 9 and willingly helped family and friends with their children. She was a faithful participant in her church, choir, lector, arranger of altar flowers, lay Eucharist distributor to shut-ins, nursing care to homebound parishioners, founder of St. Pascal's Housewives Mass and Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission Member. She earned her certificate in Pastoral Ministry from St. Catherine's as a member of Theta Alpha Kappa, worked in prison ministry, and was a founding Board Member of JC Ministries. Mary Lou was loving, energetic, hospitable, eternally optimistic, had an indomitable spirit and cheerfulness, and bore her pain with dignity and grace. She was especially grateful to those who cared for her since Armin preceded her: daughter, Cheryl (Jon and Daniel), sons, David, Steven, Greg; nephew, Jeff; grandchildren, Kristin and Yon (Lisa, Cadence and Melody) and the HealthEast Hospice team, especially Heather, Nancy and Shannon. Visitation from 4-8PM on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Mueller Memorial, 835 Johnson Parkway, St. Paul, with a Prayer Service at 7:30PM. A celebration of her life will be held during a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30AM on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1095 DeSoto Ave., St. Paul. Longtime family friend, Father John Forliti will be officiating. A second visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment at Calvary Cemetery of St. Paul. Memorials preferred to St. Patrick’s Church or HealthEast Hospice. Due to allergies, the family requests no fragrances to be worn.
