Mary and Len lived in many places throughout the country, from Dubuque Iowa to Boise Idaho with stops in Portland Oregon and International Falls Minnesota. They discovered many friendships along the way and cherish the memories of their adventures. Mary and Len always returned home to St Paul where they enjoyed their family barbecues and gatherings with their brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Mary was a loving and devoted mother who always supported her son Ted’s adventures in the United States Air Force. She was always there when his family needed support, from helping Diana move houses while Ted was deployed to Afghanistan to coordinating new quilts to match every new house’s decor. She was the epitome of an Air Force Mom.
Mary was committed to giving to others. From her volunteering as a Cub-Scout Pack leader, her work with the St. Vincent DePaul food shelves, to supporting homeless shelters. Mary devoted many happy hours to creating beautiful quilts and donating them to veterans, schools, churches, homeless shelters, and NICU’s. She enjoyed quilting with the St. Mark’s parish quilting group. Her quilts were cherished gifts to family and friends, much like her mother Bernice’s crocheted blankets.
Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren, from teaching Marissa how to sew to gardening with Ryan, she created many happy memories with her “favorite grandson and granddaughter”.
Mary and Len traveled the country camping and sightseeing. They enjoyed many of the national parks out west but the Oregon coast and Cannon Beach will always be a highlight of their journey’s together.
