Madailein (Maddie) Eileen Kolb, age 11, died peacefully on September 21, 2019, in her home, with her family at her bedside, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. âI have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faithâ (2 Timothy, 4:7).
Maddie was born on Presidentâs Day, February 18, 2008, in Saint Paul, MN to loving parents Mike and Cara Kolb. Maddie was known by her family, friends, and teachers to be kind to everyone she met, often putting others before herself. Maddie was bright beyond her years, was always inventing and creating, and had a curious mind. She loved school, her teachers, and all her friends. When Maddie wasnât playing her violin, she was swimming, fishing, reading, caring for the young ones in the family, playing with her dog, having sleepovers with her friends, and trying out new recipes. Maddie had a love for travel and a desire to experience the world around her.
Maddie is survived by her parents, Mike and Cara, her sister, Meredith (8), and her brother, Mikey (3); Grandparents, Pat and Lynn Kolb and Mike and Colleen Shaw; Aunts and uncles, Mary and Jeff Jens, Bridget and TJ Weiland, Joe and Nicole Jens, Andy and Stacy McGrath, Tricia and Lee Hilton, and Melissa Kolb; Cousins, Ava, Jack, Sydney, Tyler, Tiegan, Caleb, Nathan, Anika, Jake, Soren, and Ella; Special family friends, Dan Cornell, Emmy and Carman Leone, Joe Steiner, Nick and Amanda Stahlmann, and Bonnie Jasiunas; Great-grandmother Joan Pasiuk; and many dear friends, extended family, and the Frassati Catholic Academy/St. Mary of the Lake community.
Maddie and her family would like to thank her amazing medical team at Childrenâs Hospitals and Clinics for their dedication and commitment to Maddieâs care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Childrenâs Minnesota Foundation.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 4741 Bald Eagle Ave., White Bear Lake, MN 55110 on Saturday, September 28, 2019. Visitation will begin at 12:30pm and mass at 1:30pm. A luncheon will follow at the Parish Center/Frassati Catholic Academy (Kohler Hall), 4690 Bald Eagle Avenue, White Bear Lake, MN 55110.
