Loren (Bud) Erwin Tyler

d. September 18, 2014

Loren Erwin “Bud” Tyler A Kindhearted Man – Age 96 Passed Away on September 18, 2014 Survived by son, Mark (Laura); brother, Richard (Linda); grandchildren, Shawn (Missie), Jake, Lukas and their mother, Barbara; great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Jude, Maria and Joseph; many other relatives, nieces, nephews and special friends. Preceded in death by wife, Ruby; father, Frank; mother, Eugenia (nee Mootz); brothers, Eugene, Delbert, Leroy and Donald. Bud told Mark that when he was young, he grew up in the best of times, despite his family being very poor. He worked hard on family farms as a youngster and developed a strong work ethic. Bud saw the value of saving and investing his hard earned money but also generously shared the fruits of his labor with his loved ones and those in need. He believed in fixing what needed repair and building it yourself if possible. He was as independent and self-reliant as anyone could be. Mark’s earliest childhood memories always included doing things with his Dad. Bud was always there for Mark. He was also very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed attending their activities. He almost never missed an event. Bud joined the U.S. Coast Guard when he was 24 and operated radar and sonar equipment. He served for 40 months until World War II ended. Afterwards, he worked for 3M Company for 5 years, followed by 27 years for the Federal Government as a livestock inspector in South St. Paul. At the age of 55, he retired. Bud placed caring for others as an important priority and was always willing to lend a hand to help someone. He took care of his parents when they were unable to care for themselves. He did the same for Grandpa Entenmann and especially, Ruby, his wife of 56 years. Bud and Ruby really enjoyed bowling, mainly at Sun Ray Lanes. They both appeared on the TV show, “Bowlerama.” Bud spent lots of time fishing with Mark and they caught tons of fish. The cabin on Lake Carnelian was a favorite destination, mostly because of all the wonderful neighbors. Bud turned a one room “shack” into a family getaway that provided years of fun and recreation. Bud has been a member of St. Pascal’s Catholic Church on the eastside of St. Paul since 1952. Up until 3 months ago, he attended Mass every week – the last few years alongside the “ladies in the back row.” One of the hospice caregivers asked Bud what kept him at the same church for 62 years and his response was “it made me feel close to God.” Bud loved and cared deeply for his family, relatives and friends and he appreciated those relationships very much. He told us how much he longed to be with Ruby again. Without a doubt, that is where he is now. Visitation 2-6PM on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Mueller Memorial, 835 Johnson Parkway, St. Paul. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30AM on Monday, September 22, 2014 at St. Pascal Baylon Catholic Church, 1757 Conway St., St. Paul with second visitation 1 hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment, Guardian Angels Cemetery of Oakdale. Memorials appreciated to the church.
