Leon Stoeckel

Leon D. Stoeckel, 72, of Isanti, peacefully went home to Heaven on July 6th after a short yet determined battle with brain cancer.

Leon attended school at Zion Lutheran in Crown and served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves where he played on the basketball team and received an academic excellence honor graduate certificate. He earned his Associate degree at Anoka Ramsey Community College while playing on the basketball team, and his Bachelor's degree from St. Cloud State University. He was the Real Estate Broker and Owner of Isanti Anoka County Realty.

Leon was a man of strong faith, Joy Lutheran Church Council President, Zion Lutheran longtime member, and often said: "Trust God and take things one day at a time."

Leon was an outdoor enthusiast; frequently deer hunting, fishing, and chopping wood. He also loved watching his son play baseball and was a basketball coach for his daughter. His children and precious granddaughters were the light of his life and together they frequently created fun adventures.

Leon is preceded in death by his father Lawrence, mother Isabelle and brother, Joel.

He will be dearly missed by his children, Brooke (Courtney) Whaylen of Savage, MN and Brent of Coon Rapids, MN; granddaughters, Abby and Anna; siblings, Sue (Jim) Rogers and Rick (Sue) Stoeckel; as well as many other loved ones.

Memorial Service to be held Tuesday, July 30th, 2:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church 7515 269th Ave NW, St. Francis, MN with a time of gathering, 12:00-1:45 PM. Reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Zion Lutheran Church in Crown, Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul, or order a Memorial Tree to be planted in Leon's honor to celebrate his love of the outdoors.
