Leon Eugene Babcock Dedicated and Loving Husband, Father, Grandpa, Brother, Great-Grandpa, Great-Great-Grandpa and Friend Age 94, Leon was born in West St. Paul to Myrtle (nee Doughty) and George Babcock. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1942. After serving in World War II as a Sergeant, he returned home and was honorably discharged in 1945. Leon married the love of his life, Audrey Lois (nee Gritzmaker) on March 31, 1944 in St. Paul. He retired from Hamm’s Brewery in 1983, where he had worked as an accountant for many years. When he was not working, Leon enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was a faithful member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the 104th Infantry Division of the Timberwolves. His great sense of humor will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Leon is preceded in death by parents, Myrtle and George; 6 siblings; and 2 young grandchildren, Jeanne and David Babcock. Survived by wife of 71 years, Audrey Lois Babcock of Maplewood; three children, Steve (Vicky) Babcock of Maplewood, Kerry (Toni) Babcock of South St. Paul, and Lori (Paul) Benassi of Maplewood; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, George Babcock; sister, Donna Kruppenbacher; and many other family and friends. Visitation 11AM-12PM on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Mueller Memorial, 835 Johnson Parkway, St. Paul with a Funeral Service at 12PM (noon). Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery of Maplewood.
