Laverne Rita Lyman Ackerman

Laverne Rita Ackerman (nee Lyman) Age 77 ~ Loving Mother, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Sister, Cousin and Friend Laverne was born on September 7, 1938 in Niagara, Wisconsin. She graduated from Niagara High School in 1956 and then from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1959. Laverne worked for many years as a registered nurse at hospitals in Milwaukee, WI, Iron Mountain, MI, Green Bay, WI, and retired from St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, MN. She worked hard by her husband's side to venture into the restaurant business. They owned Italian Supper Clubs in Marinette and Green Bay, WI. Laverne is preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Ronald; her parents, Clarence J. and Dorothy Lyman; her sister, Genevieve Holloway; and brothers, Theodore Lyman, Clarence A. Lyman, and Patrick Lyman. She will be dearly missed by her sons, CAPT, USN (ret.) Timothy (Laura) Ackerman, DDS, MD, Thomas (Kathleen) Ackerman, and Stephen Ackerman; her grandchildren, Jeffrey (Alexandra) Ackerman, Christopher Ackerman, Nicholas (Danielle) Ackerman, Anthony Ackerman, Thomas Ackerman Jr., Samantha Ackerman, Lillianna Ackerman, Jacob Ackerman, Alexandra Ackerman, and Megan Ackerman; great-granddaughter, Juliette; sisters, Dorothy (Anthony) Gennaro, Mary Jane Carlson, Bertha Driscoll, Marguerite Miller, and Geraldine (Forrest) Sarver; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 920 Holley Ave., St. Paul Park with visitation 10:00-11:00AM at church. Interment, Newport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the American Cancer Society or the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
