Lanette R. Zaiger

Lanette Ruth Zaiger Age 55 of Mounds View ~ Formerly of White Bear Lake Lanette was born at Miller Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota on August 30, 1961. She was the fifth of eight children to Barbara (Stoltzman) and Harold Zaiger. She was born 9 minutes earlier than her twin sister, Mary Zaiger and they were both in the White Bear Lake High School Class of 1979. Lanette worked as a Transportation Specialist at MNDot (Minnesota Department of Transportation). She had been at the company for over 32 years. During her time at MNDot, she worked with a man named Jerry Kluthe. Years down the road, after Jerry had moved to another department, they reconnected for lunch and began dating. They were married on November 30, 2014 at The Mermaid in Mounds View by Pastor Mike Carlson of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church. Lanette was an extremely generous and thoughtful woman. She made a huge impact with Women of Today, which is a group that focuses on community service, personal growth, and friendships. She had an ability to stay in touch with many friends over the years and she touched so many lives. When she was not working or volunteering, Lanette could be found working in her gorgeous gardens with Jerry. They had both flower and vegetable gardens at their home in Mounds View. They were in the middle of a move to Blaine where she was very excited to start an even more gorgeous garden on 2 acres of land. One of the most important things to Lanette was keeping family traditions alive. Their father passed away when she was only 8 years old and she eventually made it a goal to keep family events going. The whole family loved fishing and for the last 30 plus years the family took an annual fishing trip. This year everyone talked about finding a new lake to start going to. She simply enjoyed doing things and being social. Family members will remember her as being the organizer of things and her ability to throw together anything from food dishes to gatherings. Lanette was such a happy and special person, she will be missed by all who knew her. Lanette is preceded in death by her parents, Barbara and Harold Zaiger. She will be missed by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Kluthe of Mounds View; her siblings, Larry (Sharon) Zaiger of Arkansas, Dale (Janet) Zaiger of California, Tom (Debbie) Zaiger of New Brighton, Kathy Zaiger of Mounds View, Mary Zaiger of Mounds View, Jean (Brian) Westley of St. Paul, and Gloria (Katie Lipe) Zaiger of St. Paul; her step-children, Joe Kluthe of Mounds View and Lauren Kluthe of Blaine; her niece, Jessica (Bill) Kraus of Cottage Grove; her nephews, Randy Zaiger of Cottage Grove and Scott Westley of St. Paul; her great-niece, Colleen “CJ” Kraus; and many other family and friends. There will be a gathering to celebrate Lanette’s life on July 28, 2017. Friends and family will gather from 1-2PM at Mueller Memorial, 4738 Bald Eagle Avenue in White Bear Lake and there will be a service led by Reverend Mike Carlson (of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church) at 2PM. Following the service, friends and family are invited to join for a potluck reception at Podvin Park, 1700 9th Street in White Bear Lake (near where Lanette lived for over 17 years).
