Kenneth E. Wharton, Jr.
Born in St. Paul, MN, April 3, 1935
Preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth E. and Marie Wharton. Survived by sister, Jeri of Shoreview; daughters, Larae (Mike) Copeland, Lureen (Brad Kluegel); son, Bruce (Susi) Wharton; grandchildren, Cade and Carleigh Copeland, Tymina (Browerton), Haley and Hunter Kluegel, Amber (Butler), Amely, Kylie and Lilly Wharton; great-grandchildren, Ava, Bradley and Curran; and many other family and friends.
Bud graduated from Wilson High School in ‘53, spent 3 years in the US Army from ‘54-‘57, one stateside, two in W. Germany; BS, Macalester College ‘60; MA University of Minnesota ‘67. Wharton taught school one year in St. Paul and thirty years in Mahtomedi, MN. He ran for County Commissioner in ‘70 and Congress in ‘72 and in retirement was elected to the Fountain Hills, AZ School Board in ‘92. Active in educational politics as well he attended two National MEA Conferences and represented the 6th District of Arizona at the National School Boards Association Convention in Washington D.C. He wants to thank his family and many friends herein the US and also in Germany, Denmark, Czek Rep. and China for a lifetime of happiness and good times.
