Karen Lois Carlson (nee Schoeller), 81, of Hugo, received her wings on August 26, 2024. She was preceded in death by her son, Dale; brother, Forrest; and parents, Carl and Ethel Schoeller. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Lynn Warren; son, Thomas Aaron (Alex); daughter, Nicole Lynn (Dave) Nelson; grandchildren, Derek (Thi), Natalie (Ryan), Caleb, Jericho, Max, and Kai; great grandchildren, Stella and Archer; daughter-in-law, April; and other family and friends.
Karen graduated from White Bear High School and continued her education at the U of M, earning a degree in Microbiology. She focused her career on research at the U starting a new lab before leaving to focus on her children. As the kids grew, she balanced home with work taking administrative and financial work at Wild Mountain Recreation Area and Taylor Falls Chiropractic Office . She was dedicated to her church and had a lifetime of service as a teacher, organist and church secretary at three congregations: Kihei Lutheran Church in Maui, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Almelund, and Christ the King Lutheran Church in White Bear Lake. Karen and Lynn Warren decided to move to Hawaii in 1996 and stayed for 22 years before moving back to Minnesota. They enjoyed their time at Realife Co Op and being close to family. Karen will be greatly missed as a generous mother, loving wife and wonderful friend..
A memorial service will be held for her at 2 PM on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1660 Birch Lake Ave, White Bear Lake with visitation from 1 PM until service. Memorials are preferred to Christ the King Lutheran Church.
