Joanne "Jo" Lewis (Pinski)

March 21,1936-January 9, 2025

Joanne Marie Lewis (Pinski) passed away early Thursday morning, January 9, 2025 at St. Therese at St. Odilia in Shoreview after suffering from a stroke on December 18, 2024.

Joanne was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on March 21, 1936, the daughter of Lillian and Leo Pinski. She spent her whole life living in St. Paul and being a part of St. Casimir Church. Joanne is predeceased by her parents, her sister, Sr. Mary Adria Pinski, and her brother, Bob Pinski.

She is survived by her loving husband, Don Lewis, daughter, Mary Jo Lewis of St. Paul, son, Tom (Heather) Lewis of Mounds View, grandsons Eddie and Boston; Don's siblings, Joanne "Joanie" Koski and brother Gordon Jr. (Joyce) Lewis as well as many other family and friends.

Joanne and Don could always be found together. In their earlier days, they walked around Lake Phalen and in their older days, they walked at Maplewood Mall meeting people along the way. After walking, they would enjoy going to McDonalds and enjoy the food, coffee, and people. They took many trips in the United States after retiring, and the most memorable was a 17- day trip to Alaska. They enjoyed going to Hastings to visit Emily's or Dunkin Donuts and to try their luck at Treasure Island.

Joanne attended St. Casimir Catholic Grade School and graduated from Johnson High School. Her daughter and son (as well as her mom) went to the same elementary school. After high school, she worked for the U.S.Army Corps of Engineers as an administrator, taking a break to raise her children, and then returning to the same job until she retired. Joanne was a wonderful wife, a caring mother, and a loving grandma. She will be missed dearly.

We are grateful to all the nurses and aides at St. Therese who cared for Mom in her last week.

A Catholic mass will be held for Joanne on Saturday January 18th at the church of St. Casimir: 934 Geranium Ave East, St. Paul, MN. 55106. Visitation will begin at 10 AM, a Rosary will be recited at 10:30 AM in the chapel, and the Mass will commence at 11 AM.

Please join us after mass for a time of celebration of Joanne's life. Information will be given at the church.
