Jesse Jacobson was born on February 24, 1977, in Fargo, ND, to Tim and Kim (née Nystrom) Jacobson. From a young age, Jesse had two great passions: basketball and cars. As an 8th grader, he made a remarkable impact as a starter for the Griggs County Central High School varsity basketball team, even hitting eight three-pointers in a single game. His basketball journey continued at Shanley High School, where he scored over 1,000 points for the Deacons and discovered his first love: a 1977 Plymouth Volare station wagon, which he always regretted selling.

After graduating from Shanley in 1995, Jesse played basketball at the Wahpeton School of Science before joining the St. Cloud State men’s basketball team. It was there that he met the true love of his life, Lisa. Their relationship flourished, and they married in May 2003. Together, they built a happy life and were blessed with three children: Luke, Joey, and Kelsie, completing their family.

Throughout his career, Jesse worked various jobs, but his true calling was coaching. He was passionate about mentoring and guiding young athletes, whether it was his own children or the girls of the NDPRO AAU basketball team. Jesse was dedicated to helping others succeed, and his love for coaching and teaching left a lasting impact on many.

Jesse found immense joy in coaching Luke in basketball, fishing with Joey, and watching Kelsie dance. He was a devoted and proud father who cherished being involved in their lives, always encouraging them to reach their full potential.

Jesse will be deeply missed by so many. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, and brother, and he was one of those rare individuals that everyone actually looked forward to spending time with, especially if a dance floor was nearby. In perpetuum, frater, ave atque vale.

Jesse is survived by his wife Lisa (nee Weyandt); children Luke, Joey & Kelsie; parents Tim & Kim; siblings Sarah Mevold (Jan) and their children Jetta, Jack, Mila & Bella; Nick (Amy) & their children Mia, Niko & Elle and Adam (Ann) and their children Amelia, Max & Jordan; grandmother Alice Anderson; parents-in-law Michael & Theresa Weyandt; Lisa’s siblings Mike Weyandt Jr. (Megan) and their child Addison; Ken Weyandt (Leah) and their children Mason & Cooper; Stacey Anderson (Luke) and their children Maisy, Camryn & Harley. Jesse was a devoted & amazing teacher, coach & mentor. Visitation Monday, September 30, 2024 from 4-8:00 pm at MUELLER MEMORIAL, 4738 Bald Eagle Avenue, White Bear Lake. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 12 Noon at CHURCH OF ST. PETER, 2600 Margaret Street, North St. Paul with visitation starting at 11:00 am and a family reflection being shared at 11:50 AM. Memorials are preferred to the family.
