Life Story Jerre LeTourneau
Jerre grew up on the East Side of St. Paul and graduated from Harding High School in 1969. After high school Jerre skated for 3 years with Shipstadâs and Johnsonâs ice Follies. She toured doing shows throughout the United States and Canada. Then she started teaching at Aldrich Arena in Maplewood as a professional figure skating coach in the early 1970âs and later moved to the Figure Skating Club of Minneapolis. There Jerre was one of Synchronize skating coaches along with being the clubs top administrator for years.
During a fundraiser event for the skating program she sold a $1.00 ticket to her now husband Greg. Greg won the bike and the girl. The two of them have been very happily married for 39 years.
Jerre has extreme compassion to teach figure skating to young children because this sport has done so much for her, this is her way to give back by providing good positive instruction to the youth interested in developing their skill in figure skating.
Jerre has built a profession that included Synchronized skating exhibitions during first and second periods of Minnesota NorthStar Hockey games, her team was in the opening ceremonies of 1980 winter Olympics, entered competitions in Sweden and Finland, developed many local TV shows and specials along with many competitions and charity events across the United States.
Jerre develops figure skating numbers for competition from scratch, designs and sews the costumes, produces the program music, while enjoying being the top administrator of the Minneapolis Figure Skating Club.
Jerre has had a very accomplished skating career and is admired by many.
She will be remembered by always having a smile on her face and looking forward to her next adventure. She was a loving and caring person and friend to many. We will miss her.
Past thoughts of my wife Jerre LeTourneau
Very talented with math and numbers. When I was taking college algebra, I was struggling arriving at my answers to the homework problems and Jerre came by and said âwhatâs the problem, you can see the answer right thereâ I said how can you see that, and Jerre said I notice patterns.
Jerre was in the gifted classes for top students at Harding. She said she completed her homework reading comic books for information.
Loves doing crossword puzzles.
Extremely talented costume/dress designer and did all the sewing.
Laughs at herself a lot, loves people and lived life humorously.
Jerre rented the Jonathan Paddle ford boat for our wedding reception so when her aunts and uncles instead of quickly going through the food line and leaving right away, they had to stay the whole 4 hours for once.
Jerre loves campfires and fires in the fireplace, this was so soothing to her.
Taught her husband what to shop for at JoAnn Fabrics so I could do shopping runs for her.
I loved watching pair skating on TV, So when we were first married I was determined one day while we were skating together on Bald Eagle Lake that I could lift her up over my head and do spins just like on TV. After several minutes of chasing her and Jerre saying âno you get away from meâ I gave up, we could have been such stars.
Excellent cook just like her mother. We worked well in the kitchen together, Jerre cooked I did dishes and clean up. Fabulous.
When Jerre finished the Scott Hamilton Cares cancer research fund raiser on October of this year. Jerre wanted to start a program with the U of M hospital across the street from Augsburg, any kid or family members that were at the hospital while their child was being treated for cancer could take part in learn to skate program at Augsburg for free. I said this was a great idea. Hope this information helps. Thanks Greg LeTourneau.
