Jerry was the youngest of three; raised on the family farm in Burnsville, MN. He attended St. Johnâs Catholic School in Savage, MN and graduated from Burnsville High School in 1978. His best childhood memories were growing up on the family farm with his siblings and Sodomka cousins.
Jerry began his career in law enforcement in Huxley, Iowa. He continued in Pleasant Hill and Colfax, serving for 11 years in Iowa before returning to Minnesota.
Jerry started with the Washington County Sheriff's Office on December 20th, 1999. He was a deputy, school resource officer, detective, court security officer, SWAT operator, and range instructor. He was proud to serve our communities and work alongside such loving and honorable men and women.
Jerry deeply loved and cared for his family and studying Godâs word. Jerry spent many years in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), couples small groups, Thursday morning menâs group, and volunteering at church. He also had great love for the MN Vikings, sweets and treats, boating, traveling and road trips with Bunny, card games, pulling pranks, sauces, napkins, washing his hands, animals & feeding the birds.
If you were blessed to have Jerry call you âBuddyâ, âMisterâ, âBrotherâ, or âFine Americanâ you know you were loved by him. Jerry was a friend to all. He led with kindness and hoped to bring a smile or laugh to those around him each day.
In lieu of flowers, our family would like to honor Jerry with donations to the Alaska Dream Center where he and Bunny served on their last mission trip together in August 2018. Donations can be made online at http://dreamcenterak.org/.
Cards can be sent to the Mueller Memorial Funeral home.
