Jeffery (Jeff) Haycraft (1960-2024) passed suddenly on June 5, 2024. Survived by his loving fiancée and partner of 8 years Linda Ohr, his sister Laurie and her husband Dave, Nephew Josh, and by his partners family (Jim Ohr, Louise Ohr, Devon Baker-Ohr and his best bud Cujo). Preceded in death by his mother Ruth and father Robert.
Jeff was born in Menomonie Wisconsin but was raised in Thief River Falls Minnesota. He grew up on a farm and would always tell me stories of his youth. He travelled a lot with his family taking the trains to California, and the west, skiing in Vail was something he always spoke of. Jeff wasn’t the most athletic, but he could ski. He loved all his family very much and these travels stayed with him through the years.
Jeff worked at the post office for almost 25 years, and I (Linda) can only be glad that he never has to go back. Jeff would always say he’s on the undertime list. He had so many little sayings and could always make me smile. I will waste no more time on the post office.
Jeff loved music and that is how we met at karaoke at Mounds Park Sports Bar. He was a regular and I had just started going. We clicked with music and his goofiness. Though he ran away many times, I eventually caught him. So many people were there at the beginning, and I love you all for you support of Jeff and me. Not the most practical couple, but we worked. It didn’t make sense, but it did. He loved telling his stories of concerts and band friends from the past, and he had so many. He loved music and I loved music, and it was always something in our lives that we shared together. Thinking about never listening to those songs and singing and dancing with him, I have no words.
If you knew Jeff, you knew how big a heart he had and just how wonderful he was. A stinker for sure, he loved to be a little sneak, but he was so amazing. The love I felt even when he wasn’t with me, but knowing the next time I get to see him how lucky I am to get to be with this completely selfless, beautiful person. You all have stories of Jeff and if you know Jeff he always had a story or 10. The love I have and will never let go is forever.
He loved all of you who are reading this so much. Even if he didn’t know you, you could sit down with him have a drink and he would treat you like just another buddy. I will love him forever and our time was way too short together. We always said forever, ever forever ever….until I’m with him again.
We will be having a Celebration of Life for Jeff on Sunday, June 23rd starting at 1pm at Cheers Pub (1067 Hudson Rd #6107, St Paul, MN 55106 ). Stop by and have a drink for Jeff or share a story or memory of him. He would for you.
