“My name is Jimmy”
Age 96, born 10/22/15 passed away surrounded by his family on 2/10/12. Jimmy was a lifelong Eastsider who graduated from Johnson High School in 1934. He ran Damiani and Sons Store on the corner of 7th and Payne for many years. At the age of 70, Jimmy visited Italy for the first time where he met family members, which led to six subsequent trips. Jimmy was heavily involved with American Legion Post 577 which provided him with motivation and many close friends. In addition to the Legion, he was an active member of St. Patrick’s Church where he had served as an usher for over 50 years. He will be remembered for his dedication, community service and most importantly, the devotion to his family which was reciprocated. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Alma; and son, James. He is survived by his children, Tom Damiani and Nancy (Don) Skaar; 5 grandchildren, Patricia (Guillaume) Gainyo, Catherine (Rob) Hutton, John (Lisa) Damiani, Charles (Theresa) Skaar and Teresa Skaar; 6 great-grandchildren, Brian (Amber) Peterson, Amy (David) Beale, Anna Hutton, Jacob Damiani, Cindy Gainyo and Casey Parks; great-great-granddaughter, Ruth Beale; brother, Louis Damiani; sister, Anne Zaccardi; daughter-in-law, Linda Damiani; and other relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Paul Abraham and Hospice of the Lakes Care Team One for their compassionate care. Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, 10 am at St. Patrick’s Church, 1095 Desoto St., St. Paul with visitation Tuesday, 4 – 8 pm at Mueller Memorial Parkway Chapel, 835 Johnson Parkway, St. Paul and 1 hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
