J. Michael Egan

Egan, J. Michael Age 58 of Vail, Colorado Formerly of Mahtomedi Mike passed away June 18, high above the Arctic Circle, in Lofoten, Norway, as a result of an accident while bicycling with his brother Tim, and two Norwegian friends. Mike took great pride in his two children, the close relationships within his large extended family, his career in the medical device industry, his role as CEO of the Stradman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, CO, and his many board member positions in various companies. An avid sportsman, Mike enjoyed skiing in Vail, hiking and cycling throughout Colorado, practicing yoga, global travel, and the company of friends and family. His was a life well lived, and fully examined. Mike was a leader who loved his teammates, respected his competitors, and sought excellence in all aspects of his life. He was a 1971 graduate of Mahtomedi High, and a 1975 graduate of The Colorado College, and a member of the CC Tiger varsity hockey team. Loved by his children: Tim Egan of Boulder, CO and Kristen Egan of New York City. Survived by his siblings: Pat (Sherry) Egan of Stillwater; Tim Egan of Munich, Germany; Liz (Mike) Eggert of Lake Elmo; Kelly (Ed) Olson of Lake Elmo; Kay Wilson of White Bear Lake; Sue (Jeff) Chandler of Scottsdale, AZ and Molly (Kevin) Hunt of Lino Lakes. And many nieces & nephews. Friends may gather Tuesday; July 5th from 4 – 8 PM at MUELLER LAKE MORTUARY, 4738 Bald Eagle Ave. at 3rd St., White Bear Lake and one hour prior to Mass at church. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday at 11 AM at St. Jude of the Lake, 700 Mahtomedi Ave., Mahtomedi. Reception follows at the church.
