Irene Marie Seibert (Blommel)

IRENE MARIE SEIBERT (nee Blommel) Age 89 of St. Paul – God Called Her Home to His Kingdom on April 4, 2016 Irene was born in St. Rosa, Minnesota on April 1, 1927 to Theresa (nee Wittkop) and Theodore Blommel. She was raised as a strong, German, Catholic farm girl. Following her high school graduation, Irene moved to St. Paul, Minnesota with her girlfriends. She worked at Brown & Bigelow for many years. One evening, she went dancing with her girlfriends at The Prom Ballroom. She saw Richard Seibert across the dance floor and knew that she wanted to dance with him. They began dating and were married on September 3, 1949. Following their marriage, they moved to an apartment on Laurel Avenue in St. Paul and had their first child, Judy. In August of 1951, they moved to their current family home on Breen Street where both the house and their family continued to grow. Irene was able to stay home with their eleven children and dedicate her life to being a loving wife and mother. She and Richard raised their family on the East Side of Saint Paul where they attended Blessed Sacrament Church. They sent all 11 children to school there. Irene was a phenomenal mother who took great pride in her family and she was well known for her baking and cooking. She was very involved with her children’s lives and was even a Cub Scout leader for the boys. She sang in the church choir, loved to go dancing with her husband, was an avid gardener, and played cribbage whenever possible. Irene had a great sense of humor and always loved to have a good time.
