Age 90 of St. Paul
Passed away 12/5/10 due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Daughter of Katherine and Thomas Larsen and sister to eight siblings, Irene was a life-long resident of St. Paul. She grew up near W. 7th Street, graduating from Mechanic Arts high School. She worked for Montgomery Ward where she met and married Albert (Bert) Duban. They lived on the East Side where her daughter, Suzanne, was born. She attended St. Pascal’s and Assumption Churches and worked for Johnson Brothers Grocers and Mounds Park Hospital. Irene was active in her neighborhood and enjoyed many pursuits. She received several awards for her gardens incorporating flowers and vegetables before it was fashionable. She was a gifted and adventurous cook making many meals for friends and family including popcorn balls for Halloween. She was a good listener and accepted all people. She will no doubt be happily received by those who will throw her a great party in heaven. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM, Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Cerenity Marian Center Chapel, 200 Earl St, with visitation one hour prior to Mass at Marian Center, followed by a tea in the Reception Hall. Interment Ft. Snelling Nat’l Cemetery. No memorials please.
