Holace Nelson

Holace W. Nelson passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023, on the eve of his 97th birthday.

He was a WWII Navy veteran and a retired St. Paul firefighter. He was an exceptional man; good natured, generous, witty and erudite, a true autodidact, as well as a lifelong outdoorsman. He was well-liked and well-regarded by all who knew him, and greatly loved by all those closest to him. He will be sorely missed.

Holace was preceded in death by his parents, Dorand Nelson and Nora (Udseth) Nelson Knudsen; wife, Barbara (Simmons) Nelson; stepfather, Agnor Knudsen; sisters, Nevoline, Jenettle, Adelaide, and Louaine; brother, Dorand; and one niece.

He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca, Patrice, and Jennifer; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and fifteen nieces and nephews.

Holace's funeral will take place Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 10:00 AM, at Mueller Memorial Parkway Chapel, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM, and a light luncheon following the service. He will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
