Helen Jane Fox Rasmussen

HELEN JANE RASMUSSEN (nee Fox) Age 84 of St. Paul ~ Passed away on January 26, 2015 while holding her daughter Carol’s hand as her son James sang to her. Helen was born on May 25, 1930 in Brainerd. She was born to Myrtle (nee Orell) and Vernon Fox. Helen met the love of her life, James Rasmussen and they were married on October 1, 1948 in Brainerd. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle and Vernon Fox; and her brother, Edward Marek. Helen is survived by her husband of 66 years, James; her children, James (Sandy), Michael (Karen), Linda (Jeff) Gorton and Carol (Glenn) Blokzyl; brother, Lloyd (Mary Ann) Marek; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; close friend, Alice Stahnke; and beloved dog, Lucky. Helen started her nursing career in Duluth at Lakeside Manor. She transferred to Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul and then moved on to Ancker Hospital and retired from St. Paul-Ramsey Hospital. Helen was strong in character, with a gentle spirit and caring heart. Special thanks to staff on 8 South at Regions Hospital. Memorial Service at 11AM on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at First Lutheran Church, 463 Maria Ave., St. Paul with gathering of friends and family from 10-11AM. Interment, Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Memorials preferred to First Lutheran Church.
