Harold Werner Maass
Age 83 of White Bear Lake
Formerly of Blaine and Garrison
Harold was born in Gaylord, Minnesota on June 20th, 1932. He graduated from Gaylord High School and went into the United States Navy. While working as a plastic molder at Honeywell, Harold met and fell in love with his wife of 35 years, Marlene (nee Cernohous). The two were married in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 17, 1981. He retired from Honeywell after 34 years. He was always a sweetheart with a great love of music (especially country). He had a beautiful voice and could always be heard singing along with the radio and particularly loved performing at karaoke. When he was not working, Harold loved to hunt, fish (at his trailer at Mille Lacs Lake), go bowling, and was an avid sports enthusiast (Go Twins & Vikings!). He was a member of the Coon Rapids American Legion, the Blaine VFW and most recently, the White Bear Lake VFW. He and Marlene enjoyed retirement living up near Garrison and eventually moved back to âthe citiesâ landing in White Bear Lake. They enjoyed traveling and were able to take their last trip to Lake Havasu, Arizona where they were able to spend the winter as snowbirds. Harold will be remembered for being such a sweetheart and for his relaxed and easy going personality.
Harold passed away peacefully at Maplewood Care Center on Tuesday, May 31, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister; and his son, LeRoy Maass. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 35 years, Marlene Maass; children, Charlotte Stillwell of Florida, Lisa Beaudoin of Florida, (whom he shared with former spouse); Maureen (Jim) Francis of Hugo, Michele (Larry) Mondry of Hugo, Thomas âTomâ (Leslie) Balk of Indiana, Mary (John) Kinzel of Aitkin, Gerald âJerryâ (Kaye) Balk of Idaho, Margaret âMargiâ Brown of Hugo, and Richard (Marlana) Balk of Coon Rapids; 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and other family and friends.
