Life Story:
Pearson, Gwendolyn Louise Broders (Tulla)
" ...and though she be but small, she is fierce."
Tulla adored her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren immensely; her laughter was contagious, and her joy was abundant.
Born on the East Side of St. Paul, Minnesota on May 2, 1932, Tulla graduated from Johnson High School and went on to have a long and fulfilling career as a legal secretary. She worked with top legal counsel at 3M, Honeywell, the Third District Court of Appeals in Miami, Florida, and Western Petroleum.
In 1969 Tulla began dating the love of her life, Bill Pearson, who quickly won over her children with his tremendous caring and a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken. Tulla and Bill were married at St. Johnâs in the Wilderness Episcopal Church in White Bear Lake on
June 19, 1971, and made their home in Edina.
The two enjoyed their cabin on Fifth Crow Wing Lake in the Nevis/Park Rapids area for over 25 years, and lived most recently in White Bear Lake. They would travel together to estate sales hunting for antiques and pottery, and return to the cabin where Tulla would ârake the woods," enjoy her "see-throughs," and her crab cakes. She could rarely sit still, and pitched in on every construction project. She enjoyed quilting with a wonderful group of ladies at Bethany Lutheran Church in Nevis, and volunteered as a hospice respite caregiver and office volunteer for St. Joseph's Hospital in Park Rapids. Her children learned what a truly loving marriage looked like and how to have one from watching the love Bill and Tulla shared and the life they lived together.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Tulla is preceded in death by her parents, Lydia and William Broders. She was loved and adored by her husband of 45 years, William A. âBillâ Pearson of White Bear Lake; her daughter, Lydia (John) Haugen of White Bear Lake and their three children, Allison (Adam) Hart, Anna (Ben) Thompson, and Bill Haugen; her son, Frank (Bell) Barr of Edina and their three children, Frank (Heidi) Barr, Sam Barr (Mike Meyer), and Peter Barr (Stacey Hopkins); her son, Andy (Debbi) Barr of Griffin, and their three children, Anders Barr, Katlyn (Evan) Cameron, and Georgia (Ryan) OâHora; her youngest son, Alan (Michele) Barr of Minnetonka and their two children, Jeff Barr and Talia Barr; her 9 great-grandchildren: Charles and Grace Hart, Gwendolyn Thompson, Kyson, Troy, and Jaida Cameron, and Nolan, Savannah, and Caroline OâHora; her brother, Warren (Joanne) Broders of Eagan; and many other family and friends.
And as she would say, âLetâs go to bed so these nice people can go home.â Sleep tight, Tulla!
