Gregory John Van Gelder Molenaar

MOLENAAR, Gregory John, (Van Gelder)
Born January 10, 1957, died July 25, 2024, of lung cancer, surrounded by family and friends.

Preceded in death by parents Donald and Suzanne Molenaar. Survived by siblings Donald Jr, MD, Suzanne, Angela, Lisa, Mara, Hans and Amy; several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews.

He attended high school at St. Thomas Academy in Mendota Heights and graduated from Gustavus Adolphus Colllege in St. Peter, MN, with a double major in economics and Spanish.

Greg had a keen memory and encyclopedic knowledge on a wide variety of subjects. He was an afficiondo of the Spanish language. He loved to garden and to cook and he was deeply spiritual. He was a loving companion to his parents in their elder years, as a caretaker for his mother in her illness and as a cook and a housemate for his father.

Greg will be missed, most of all for his sharp and unique sense of humor and his determination to follow his own path.

Special thanks to Karri Creamer Greiner, PCA, whose last minute and inexplicable arrival provided relief to Greg as he struggled with his health challenges. Through nourishment of body and soul and a fierce determination to stand by Greg and to protect him, he was freed from his suffering in this earthly life, enabling him to gather himself up and to begin on the journey to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Also, a very special thanks to loyal friends Chad Davies and MIchael Mliner.

Memorials preferred to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation.
